Hello! Let me introduce myself.
My name is Vanessa MacRury and I started this blog because I believe that our greatest work is ourselves.
As soon as we’re born, we’re compelled to learn and grow. Sometimes this growth comes with ease and grace. Everything just flows naturally. As if there was no other way for life to be.
But, sometimes, it takes a lot from us, and we learn and grow only after suffering through pain, rejection, and betrayal – throwing our lives into chaos.
Legendary investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala once said that “growth comes from chaos, not order.” Of course, he said this in reference to investing, but the same is true for all of life, wouldn’t you agree?
When everything is stable and perfect, we’re unlikely to change. We’re prone to just coast. Why fix what isn’t broken? Never mind that we may be settling. When there’s order in our universe, we feel safe, and we’re loathed to make changes. Ah, but what happens when our safe world implodes? “You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star,” wrote Friedrich Nietzsche.
In the midst of chaos, we find our answers to life’s most important questions. Who are we when everything is stripped away? What kind of life do we wish to live? How can we start over and rebuild a life that has been broken? How do we find bliss?
